Early Psychosis Intervention Program (Adult Community Support Service - Comox Valley Mental Health Substance Use Services) - For adults experiencing a first psychotic episode - Comox and surrounding areas

Provides early identification and treatment for first episode of psychosis. For residents aged 19+ living in the Courtenay area.
Provides early intervention and treatment for First Break Psychosis. Excludes individuals who do not have a serious and persistent mental illness as primary issue of concern.
For residents aged 19+ living in the Courtenay area, including Comox, Oyster River, and Fanny Bay.
Basic early psychosis services provided include:
  • complete assessment of symptoms and physical functioning
  • medication management
  • case manager
  • family support and education
  • client education
  • treatment of problems in living and other mental health issues

In addition to these basic early intervention services more comprehensive services may be offered including:
  • groups (in partnership with psychiatric day hospital)
  • cognitive assessments and rehabilitation
  • vocational rehab programs
  • medication side effect monitoring, healthy living programs

Anyone can refer, intake services includes self-referral.

Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) Navigation Link for Clients/Patients: This service link central access phone number will provide help for clients navigating Island Health services for substance use, harm reduction and mental health. People seeking these services can call 1-888-885-8824 to speak directly with a Service Link provider. (This is not a line for health professionals to initiate a referral).
