Transitional Housing for Women and Children

Provided by Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) - Kootenays Branch
Offers a safe short-term (usually up to 30 days) transitional housing and support services to help women and their children who have experienced or are at risk of abuse, threats or violence. The 10-bed transition house offers free, 24-hour support and consultation in a safe and secure home-like setting. Services include:
- Safe, secure and confidential services;
- Information and supports for decision making;
- Short-term shelter;
- Referrals to other services; and
- Links to affordable housing.
Haven Gardens:
Offers a longer-term (usually up to 18 months) transitional housing and support services to women and their children who have experienced or are at risk of abuse, threats or violence. Services are provided to women who are ready to engage in life-skills programs with the ultimate goal to prepare for success in the return to independent living. Intake is on a referral basis for women who want to rebuild their lives and live a violence-free lifestyle. Please contact for more information.
