Provides end-of-life care focused on palliative treatment and provides comfort for patients and support for their family, at home and in care settings
Services may be delivered in-home, inpatient unit, or in consultation and collaboration with other care providers and in different settings. Victoria Hospice also provides a 17-bed Inpatient Unit at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria and offers special touches like a 24-hour unrestricted family and friends visiting policy (including pets), a family lounge area, an open kitchen, and private meditation rooms.
Provides bereavement services following the death of a loved one. The bereavement team offers counselling to anyone in the community who is suffering loss, regardless of a prior connection to Victoria Hospice. Services include telephone support; in-person counselling; a variety of bereavement support groups, including drop-in and journal groups; information and education; and referrals where appropriate.
In a partnership between Victoria Hospice, Island Health and the Sovereign Order of St. John, there are clinics at the Esquimalt/Westshore Health Unit and Royal Jubilee Hospital for ambulatory patients who are living with a life-limiting illness and have complex or difficult pain or symptoms, including psychosocial support needs.
Offers many spiritual support services to registered patients and family members of all faiths, cultures, and beliefs led by a spiritual health coordinator and a team of volunteers.
Limitations: Royal Jubilee Location is for Patients in the Victoria Health Unit, Saanich office, and Oak Bay Gordon Head communities. Westshore location is for patients in the Esquimalt Westshore Health Unit communities.
